Known for her iconic roles in British television, Windsor's career spanned over six decades, while earning her a special place in the hearts of audiences.

Barbara Windsor, born Barbara Ann Deeks on August 6, 1937, in Shoreditch, London, became a star of stage and screen. From her early days as a chorus girl in the West End, to her roles in popular British soap operas, Windsor's energy was infectious.

One of Barbara Windsor's most notable contributions to British cinema was her role in the "Carry On" film series. Due to her comedic timing and distinctive laugh, Windsor became a staple of the franchise. "Carry on Camping," contains one of her best known scenes. Appearing in nine films, this without doubt solidified her status as a comedy legend.

In the 1990s, Windsor joined the cast of the long-running British soap opera "EastEnders," as the iconic character, Peggy Mitchell. Her portrayal of the feisty pub landlady endeared her to audiences while earning her critical acclaim.

Throughout her career, Barbara Windsor received many awards and accolades. Appointed an MBE in the 2000 New Year Honours, she also received a Damehood for her services to charity and entertainment from Queen Elizabeth II in 2016.

Barbara Windsor was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2014, although chose not to make news of her condition public. She died in 2020 at aged 83. Her warmth and charisma made her a beloved figure both on and off screen.

In addition to laughter, Barbara Windsor brought emotion to her performances. Her talent and charm set her apart as a true star. Barbara Windsor remains a national treasure to British television.
